Hello there! It seems like I’m not gonna be able to post more than once a month while I’m here which is a shame since I love sharing full outfits with you and wish I could take better advantage of the New Yorker background but we all have to cope with our hectic lives and so do I.
Just to give you quick updates, I am still in my Brooklyn apartment, my internship is going well and after two months I got really used to the language (not that my English was bad but it does make a difference when you’re surrounded by native English speakers in a working environment). I recently had my sister and best friend visiting which got me the chance to do all the touristy stuff that I hadn’t done so far, indeed it’s always easier and more pleasant to share those experiences with someone rather than being alone. I won’t lie, it’s not easy every day to be oceans away from the people you love in a crazy city where you basically don’t know anybody, working in the meantime on your thesis and looking for a job for when you get back! Nevertheless I do appreciate this amazing adventure and opportunity and by the way just posted a Youtube video about cool spots I lately went to. I also try to share my daily adventures as much as I can on Instagram stories so don’t hesitate to follow me there!
Now back to the outfit I’m thrilled to introduce you this amazing dress which is also one of the best finds I’ve done this year since it’s by H&M and got it for half its price. I’m usually very purpose driven when I shop and wait for sales to allow myself to go for statement pieces that I won’t be wearing more than a season. That’s how that Saturday afternoon I found myself wandering around H&M racks waiting for a special piece to strike my eye and that dress did. It looked a bit like a camping tent on its plastic hanger but I could feel its potential and when I tried it on I knew this had to come home with me. I love its thick material that instantly gives structure to the silhouette and the ties on each side to cinch the waist make it look like I got it from a higher end designer. That’s typically the type of dress I would wear to a fashion event, something that requires to look a little more sophisticated and dramatic than usual. I basically paired it with a pair of silver block heel sandals and that black bag which I find very special for its ornamented strap. Many brands recently came up with this type of bag, mine is by Radley London and I love how you can keep it very classic or spice it up with that removable strap that actually features my dress’ color at some parts.
You guys may say that all this isn’t so summery but I figured out I didn’t have a lot of summer/beachy clothes with me here since I’m not on holidays here and won’t enjoy vacation this year. Also, I guess many of you will probably be working a major part of the summer months and beachy inspirations are all over Instagram and blogger’s website lately so I think I’m gonna take another path this year sharing with you outfits that are more work-related yet summer appropriate cause let’s face it: we can’t all live on an island!
I decided to upgrade my posts from now on with a little shopping section at the end (designed with love) with similar pieces to those I’m wearing and numbered links so you can get them! Let me know if this update is something you appreciate or if you think I should go in another direction. See you soon! Bisous.
